Phuket International Marathon

The date for the 2nd Phuket International Marathon has now been confirmed for Sunday, 17 June 2007. After the great success of the inaugural event more than 4,000 participants are expected to join the race with start and finish at Laguna Phuket.

A 5 K Walk has been added to the program in an effort to boost participation and offer an event for beginners who are not comfortable yet to run the 10 K race.

Course:
The course designer was presented with a real challenge to design a doable course for all participants. Due to the hilly topography of Phuket it was rather difficult to find a flat marathon course. Nevertheless, a flat scenic course could be found. See the course map here

Along the Race Course

Water Stations:
There will be a water station every 1.5 - 2 Km along the course with each of them providing fruits, water in cups and bottled water. From Km 12.5 onwards electrolytes (Gatorade) will be provided to all runners.

Toilets:
Mobile toilets will be stationed along the course not more than 5 Km apart. For exact locations please refer to the course map.

Kilometer Markers:
All races will have kilometer markers every 1 Km.

Medical Aid:
Medical services will be provided along the course. Ambulances will be located at strategic points with easy access. Runners are advised to carry their own specific prescribed medicines, if necessary.

YOU MUST STOP RUNNING THE RACE IMMEDIATELY IF ORDERED TO DO SO BY A MEMBER OF THE OFFICIAL MEDICAL STAFF - this is in the interest of your health and safety.

Traffic:
The course leads through a quiet area of Phuket. Police and security guards will control traffic along the route. Although organizers endeavor a traffic free course runners may encounter some light vehicular traffic at some parts of the course.

 
 

         

Timing:
Digital clocks at Start and Finish gate. Split times at 10, 21 and 31 Km.

Awards:
There will be trophies for the top three of every age group and for overall winners.

Medals:
Every finisher will receive a commemorative medal.
