The Mekong River Multi Sport Festival in conjunction with the ITU Asian Cup Triathlon has established itself as a major multi sport event on the Asian calendar. For 2008, Chiang Saen in the Golden Triangle region of Northern Thailand has been chosen as the venue for this 3-Day multi sport extravaganza. Chiang Saen is a mere 45 minutes drive from Chiang Rai airport and is situated in an area that is best known for its beautiful mountains and scenery.

be informed in the technical briefing’s day)
Remark: For the standard of international competition,
the organizing committee does not allow to use life
vest for swimming. The athlete who could not swim well
may participate in Duathlon or Buddy Bike & Run
- Awards:
1. The winner (male and female) of Triathlon, Duathlon
and Aquathlon will receive
the Prime Minister’s Trophy.
2. The first, second and third runner-up in age group of Triathlon, Duathlon
and Aquathlon and the winner team of Buddy Bike & Run category will receive
a shield.
3. All athletes who reach to finish line will receive the medal.
Prize Money Baht 524,000: Any participant who got the place as follow, will
be received prize purse:
1. Olympic Distance Triathlon: Baht 182,000 for Top 10 of men
and Top 5 of participants (Elite & Age
groupers)

How To Get There:
BANGKOK - CHIANG RAI
Car
Take Highway No. 1 (Phahonyothin Road), turn to route No. 32 passing Ayutthaya, Angthong and Singburi Provinces and change to route No. 11 passing Phitsanulok, Uttaradit and Phrae Provinces then turn left to Highway No. 103, drive through to Ngao District and turn right onto Highway No. 1 which takes you to Phayao and Chiang Rai Provinces. The total distance is 785 km.
Bus
The coach ride from Bangkok to Chiang Rai is probably best made overnight since passengers can avail themselves of sleep prior to an early morning arrival. There are both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned bus services from Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal (Mochit 2 Bus Terminal) on Kamphaengphet 2 Road. Train
There is no direct train to Chiang Rai. You have to take a train to Lampang

Boat
The capital may also be reached from Tha Thon in Chiang Mai province by a scenic 4-6 hour (depending on climatic conditions, such as rain, and other factors such as high waters and fast currents) long-tail boat ride along the Mae Kok River.

CHIANG MAI - CHIANG RAI
Bus
Chiang Rai is 182 kilometers north of Chiang Mai. Air conditioned buses leave 12 times daily from Chiang Mai Arcade Bus Terminal to Chiang Rai. Some buses continue to Mae Sai and Chiang Saen.
Air
Airlines have numerous daily flights servicing the Bangkok-Chiang Mai route and the Chiang Mai-Chiang Rai route.
