Thailand Marathon

Race
Information
Thailand is known as "The Land of Smiles", and for its many beautiful temples. For the second time, an international marathon will bring together local and overseas competitors in a spectacularly picturesque location around Samuthsongkram about 1 - 1/2 hours drive South West from Bangkok, an area with over 100 temples scattered through the Thai countryside, surrounded by small, traditional villages, rice paddies, and lush vegetation.

This is the location for Thailand's "Third Temple Marathon" and Half Marathon on Sunday 21. March 2004.
Running in Thailand is a popular sport, and you will be joined by some of the best local runners, ensuring a fantastic and stimulating competition. The atmosphere will be charged with the excitement of this unique race, which will take you along paved roads, rough tracks and through temple grounds. Ladies, please stay away from any Monks (easily identified by their
bright
orange robes) as they are required to be harsh penance should they come into direct contact with the fairer sex!
You will be entertained and motivated along the way by local children cheering you on, exotic dancers and musicians, and villagers out just to see these mad foreigners!
Your itinerary will include an excursion to the famous Floating Market, with inspection of the race location on Saturday, 20 March 2004, offering the opportunity for sightseeing, photography and acclimatization. A pre-race carbo-loading dinner on Saturday evening; transfers to/from the race; traditional Thai Opening Ceremony; Awards Ceremony and Gala Dinner after the race are but a few of the delights awaiting entrants and their families. Accommodation is reserved at the official race hotel, the
Amari Watergate Hotel. All activities take place at the Amari Watergate Hotel.
This
marathon will be particularly challenging to runners of all levels
due to the heat and humidity, but particularly rewarding thanks to
the exotic scenery and electric atmosphere.
Specially
priced pre- and post-race sightseeing packages are available for
advance reservation through our local agent, and tours can be
purchased on site at the headquarters hotel throughout the event.
Don't
miss this opportunity to experience Thailand in a unique way. A
holiday - and a race - of a lifetime !
